The main aim of this proposal will be the investigation to identify oviposition-induced plantvolatiles of tomato by the deposition of eggs from tomato leaf miner, T. absoluta that act to attractor arrest Trichogramma egg-parasitoids.
Project concept
The proposed project will include the following distinct stages:
• Collection, isolation and identification of herbivore induced plant volatiles (HIPVs)
• Identification of the specific, behaviourally active compounds within a complex blend with gas
chromatography combined with electroantennogram detection (GC-EAD)
• Behavioural tests (olfactometer) for compounds that revealed responses during the GC-EAD
studies will be performed to determine which chemicals are actually responsible of the chemical
